The non-governmental organizations members of the
Platform of Civic Action “DOSTA E“ (ENOUGH IS ENOUGH) held its third working
session on the topic "2002 - Decentralization and Parliamentary Elections
in Macedonia: Obligations, Challenges and Opportunities for Civic Action"
in Ohrid, from 29th to 31st March 2002. 119 NGOs took part in the meeting as
well as other guests from the country and abroad. The goal of the meeting was
to define the priorities for action.
NGOs in the forthcoming period will undertake
activities to ensure fair and democratic elections, fight corruption, support
the decentralization of government, reduce brain drain, and enable
demilitarization of society.
A Coordination Body was established to secure prompt
and efficient activities. Apart from the coordination role, the Coordination
Body will be responsible to communicate the results from the activities
undertaken to the public.
NGOs stress: citizens of the Republic of Macedonia are still concerned and affected from the events taking place in the country.
NGOs alert: the elections for the president of students union of Skopje University is a bad indication of what might happen in course of the parliamentary elections.
Violence, partisanship and politicizing of society continue further. Democracy in the Republic of Macedonia is intensively threatened on daily basis.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
